Art Galleries & Culture in Boston

Boston takes pride in being a place of arts and culture. There is much for the culture buff in the city. There are films, musical shows, and stage performances and other Boston travel show that is held regularly.

Boston Music

There are a number of places where the visitors can experience the rich culture of the region. The Symphony Hall at Massachusetts Avenue hosts The Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Chamber Players and many other brands of repute.

There is the Hatch Memorial Shell where free concerts are held throughout summer. Visitors can also listen to the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra that performs at the Symphony Hall, the Sanders Theatre and the New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall.

There is The Boston Chamber Music Society that stages its performances at the First Church in Cambridge, Congregational, and the Pickman Hall. Boston Lyric Opera performs Opera at the Shubert Theatre.

Boston Theatre

The Theatre District is located on the southern side of Boston Common. The Boston Center for the Arts situated at Tremont Street is a cultural complex that has three theatres. There are also some other theatre houses that host remarkable cultural events such as the Colonial Theater, Charles Playhouse, the Cutler Majestic Theatre at Emerson College, the Loeb Drama Center, Citi Performing Arts Center, and the Wilbur Theatre.

Boston Dance

The most well-known dance company in the city is the Boston Ballet. It stages its events at the Citi Performing Arts Center from September to May. There is Jose Mateo’s Ballet Theatre which performs classical as well as contemporary dance at the Cutler Majestic Theatre at Emerson College. Another company, the Art of Black Dance and Music stage Latin American and African style dances at a number of venues in the city.

Boston Film

Boston has a strong film culture and apart from the latest Hollywood releases, there are also art-house films that are released in the city. Film buffs can visit The Brattle Theater, AMC Loews Boston Common 19, and the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts and the Hatch Memorial Shell.
